When Skunk Cabbage first emerges it is in the form of a protective growth called a Spathe. Within the Spathe is the heat producing Spadix which is covered with tiny white flowers. I was out today, and in a sunny, protective spot this particular SC figured it was ok to open up and expose the Spadix and flowers to open air and pollination. This was all accomplished using the

renowned Skunk Cabbage algorithm. Weird looking plant at first; like some alien growth.

Interesting plant and shot.
