Sling and grip question

Hi all! After much debate and review i bought a carryspeed cs-pro II over the black rapid rs-5 due to tripod plate and better made. Ive also ordered a BG-E6 grip for my 5DII
Just wondering if anyone has used any sling and grip combo and whether its secured enough? I shoot a fair amount of portraits orientation shots of animals for cover and with just 2 screw threads and weight, im abit paranoid whether i may have to either use the grip/no sling or ... no grip and sling ....

Yes. I use a Black Rapid R7 with a MB-D11 grip on my D7000 and a MB-D80 grip on my D90. When I use my 150-500 lens I do tend to take some of the weight of by holding onto the tripod foot on the lens, but otherwise no problems. The connector ring for the sling did tend to get in the way when shooting portrait orientation at first but now I don't even notice it.

How does it hold a long lens (70-200)? Looks like it holds the camera upside down with the lens straight out, doesn't that make it annoying to walk/run with?

My Sigma 150-500 weighs 4 pounds, and is 10-3/4" long at 150mm without the sunshade (16" long at 500mm with the sunshade) so I guess it qualifies as a pretty large lens. Everything does naturally hang straight down if I put the ring for my Black Rapid on the camera or horizontally if I put it on the lens tripod shoe. As I said, when I walk with it I normally hold onto the tripod shoe. It is a bit annoying, but a whole lot less than having it hanging around my neck! A sling or locked on my tripod is the only way I carry it. Having about 7 pounds of camera and lens hanging around my neck is a guaranteed route to a horrible headache, ask me how I know!

Hmm never though about attaching it to the lens mount. How would this compare to a dual shoulder rig?

I've posted this before, But I have a cheap "dual camera" strap that I customized with a trip to the hardware store. On my days off I often spend up to 9 hours in the woods. I never have fatigue or a soar neck, It is as comfortable as a good back pack... Still trying to figure out a good setup for the second camera. Sometimes I hang a camera on each side...

While on vacation last year, I saw a photographer using a chest harness. He couldn't remember where he got it but I found the Cotton Carrier. I now use the camera vest system and the lens bag system with a side holster when I want two cameras with me. They can be found at many camera supply stores or at this web site.

I feel a lot better with this system than I do with a single strap to the tripod mount on the camera. I don't remember what brand I have as I haven't used it in over a year.

The weight of my camera and 70-200 zoom is so well spread around that I haven't had a neck ache or head ache from carrying my gear around.

I have seen other systems advertised that look pretty good too.
