My daughter revolted for about a year from smiling for photographs. She has come back around lately.

Used a 430exII on the top of camera to fill in the shadows.

Cute kid. It feels like the focus is slightly forward, but I'll be damned if I can actually see that when I look closely, so it's probably an optical illusion. Light's a trifle flat which is what you get on a cloudy day.

Someone's going to complain about the white top being blown out and blending with the wall but it ain't gonna be me!

I love it, it's all about the kid and the pose and the smile. She's great, and you did a great job nailing it.

Sweet! Thanks for the awesome comments. And it was a cloudy day, good catch.
What you said about the shirt and the wall/door I saw while editing. I used the burn brush (in Aperture) to try and darken the shirt a little bit, without making it look "off" to try and separate her from the rear wall a little.

I might crop out some of that empty space above her head. The blown shirt really isn't an issue for me. What a sweet smile in a very nice photo!

zOMG--massive cutie pie alert!! As Jaemie suggested, cropping in on her would help the picture. The window panes are a very strong background element. Removing them will really put the emphasis right back where it belongs, on that adorable smile. I like the light,airy, summery feeling that the processing of the image conveys. It might be a slight bit over-bright as far as 100 percent accuracy, but that also give us that light,bright,airy,cheerful feeling, so...

Thanks for all the kind words.
I like the light and airy feel myself. Generally that's where I go with all my pictures. But I need to start working on choosing my backdrops better, although when it comes to shooting pictures of my daughter, ill take what she can give me.
