Hey, so, i picked up my D40 last night, got home and just started taking pictures playing with the camera. Took a pretty cool picture of a lighter while playing with macro mode. Tell me what you think. Kind of a boring picture though.

i like it. cool how detailed the lighter is though. you can see the fingerprints. try putting it in black and white, see how that looks.

I would like to see the same shot with a different table top (or whatever the lighter is sitting on) color, like black or red.

Looks nice! Gotta love the close focusing of the 18-55 too. It's the closest focusing lens in Nikon's entire lineup besides their dedicated macro lenses.

Thanks everyone, Yea.. I just set it up on some paper from a drawing book i had.. Took it and set it up against a box so that there would be a curve instead of a 90 degree edge.
