Tomorrow, I'm supposed to be picking up a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 locally for $300. It's in perfect condition, comes with a lens hood, caps, etc. Good choice?

Right now, I have just my 50mm f/1.4. I'm trying to gear up for the wedding I'm shooting at the end of this month. I'm thinking the Tammy 17-50 and the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 will be a good combination in conjunction with my 50/1.4.

Thoughts?

The Tamron 17-50 is my walkaround lens. I've had it for 2 years now. It has been an outstanding performer with excellent IQ. I dropped it on a boulder once and the AF stopped working, but Tamron service was superb. My only gripe is the lack of an ultrasonic motor, but that has not kept me from enjoying it and I payed alot less than the Canon equivalent would have run me.

I bought mine used for $300 too. I believe it is a decent price for that lens (in good working condition)

I bought mine new ... and would do it again. I don't think there is an equivalent lens in the price range that competes.
