Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hi all, I've joined your forum in search of some advice and guidance. My fiancée and i took a trip to the lakes, and while there, we took some photos. She really likes this photo and wants to have it put onto a canvas for the wall.

My questions to you are; A. Does it need edited in any way? B. What size would be suitable for the canvas to be (she seems to want 76.2cm x 50.8cm (30" x 20")) and C. Is it a photo that you would think would make a good canvas?

Any feedback is valued.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Any size you like is the answer these days, just make sure the resolution is good enough. If it isn't you can use interpolation software (Photoshop etc.) to enlarge the picture without losing detail.

The picture itself is ok, but you've got some over-exposed areas in the clouds which might look weird on a print... (i.e. complete white).

Thanks for your quick response. If i remember correctly, the original resolution in 1024x768, how would i know if the resolution is good enough? And also how can i correct the over-exposed areas?

Again, many thanks

David

That's a terrible resolution if that's the highest you've got. It MIGHT work if you're putting it on a canvas and smearing that fake oil painting texture junk on it.. but if you stretch the image out to a large size to hang on your wall, it very well could end up looking like crap.

david, that resolution is for your screen wallpaper. It wont print very good. Plus your photo has too much blown area. The only way to fix it is to use a couple exposures and masking or do HDR.

Yeah, it is a shockingly low resolution, but at the time i only had a really old camera phone with me encase i lost it.

On a separate note, is there a kind person that would do me a massive favor and help a guy out by kind of stretching it a little, in (a probably futile) effort to make it work?

Thanks everyone.

David

@Schwettylens Thanks, I've just found out that its actually 2592 x 1944, does this help out any? Also i only have one picture and therefore cant produce a HDR as they require 3 different exposures (if my very limited knowledge serves me right).

Thanks loads

David

if you print it on canvas, I wont go wider than 24" wide. The smaller the better though. 17" wide or smaller would be ideal.

why do you want to print this?

Its a sentimental picture from when we got engaged, and the missus would like it on the wall. So 24" is the absolute maximum? Then thats what we'll have to get. Your advice is much appreciated.

Many thanks

David

the canvas texture will hide the pixel a bit. I really think you should at least edit it a bit. Black and white or something. This picture isnt good at all. Let me do you a favor, send me the file to robin@usagani.com and let me do my magic a bit.

Aw man, that would be awesome, hang on ......

p.s please ignore my email address, im not lazy, i couldn't be bothered to think of an email address.

thanks again

David

Brightness bud!! It needs some brightening I guess

I thought that Simo but I'll let the experts work it, i'm, to be honest, a bit useless.

Cheers

David
