haha well we were in the car and she was being silly and I had her on macro! These started as an argument over if she had freckles or not.

Now that's what I always tell people, if you weren't there how do you really know what the thing had to be. Since this comes down to MY number one rule get the shot then make the best of it, I think you did admirably. I would always perfer to have a less than perfect image than to have nothing.
