Forum newbie here!

I've been reading this whole gallery obsessively, some of you take AMAZING bird photos. Here are a couple of mine - from a recent trip to Florida (Cocoa Beach). Unfortunately our home turf is still snow-bound and frozen. I can't wait to get out hiking again soon, maybe get some local guys.

The good thing about Cocoa Beach is that the birds sit still while you get 2 feet away, hoping for snacks.

The light was really flat and washed-out grey that day. I was using my 18-55mm kit lens (Canon T3).

Wow! just think all the money we can save if we can get all birds that close and we can go Birding with a 50mm lens.No more 1000s of dollars and boat anchors of glass.

I find the stooges humorous as well. :-)

Haha darkshadow, it did indeed make it easier that the birds are mostly tame. I actually got these with the 18-55 kit lens. My other "good" bird shots are taxidermy birds at the museum! They're REALLY easy to focus on.

Goal is more glass this summer so I can get actual wild local birds.
