Snapped these shots early afternoon at a ravine close to my house.
Most times when I'm out for a walk I'm lucky if ducks don't hear me before I see them. These guys were nice enough to give me a couple minutes of their time.

Nikon D40 + 55-200 DX

C&C Welcome.

Nice shots!!

A little tighter crop ma be nice if you could. It would help bring out some of the detail on the ducks.

Nice pics. May I ask one question, is the lens you used the one that came with your D40? Thanks.

Thank you! and I totally agree, I think it's time for a 70-300. :)

No I used a 55-200 DX, the 18-55 kit lens is still fantastic, just more suitable for portrait and some landscape.

Nice shots - though how far from the ducks were you? with 200mm you should have been able to get relatively close picture wise? I can't get any exif off your pics to actually see what focal length you were using.

Yeah I probably should have explained, the path was actually quite far from where they were, I was right out at 200 on these. Except for the first one of course, but I wanted alot of that reflection.

Not to give the impression that I didn't get what I wanted. I prefer to see an animal in its environment rather than a close crop, like, hey here's a duck.
