Some overexposure in the highlights. Did you make RAW captures? I think DPP flashes the overexposed areas in a shot. Snow can be tricky to meter using an evaluative mode. Which did you use? Better to spot/center meter for the brightest areas.

If it makes the main subjects too dark, recompose to exclude the brightest details of the scene, as a compromise.

The Jack Russell - you could meter off of the white.

They look ok. I really like number 3 and 6.

wow! you finally got 5 posts! good job =)

the dog on the bottom photo is not in focus at all.

the one at the top with the dogs is your best one.
the rest of the photos look like you were just walking around taking snap shots.
try to get an idea of what you are trying to accomplish before you just start snapping away.

PASM - Yes i am taking all RAW pictures and converting the edits into jpeg.I was in evaluative mode. I will re-eidit these later tonight and see what i can improve on

Digital Girl - my wife was walking with me and TOLD me to take this picture, so she will appreciate that.lol

3bayjunkie - that 's actually what I was doing. I have only had this camera for a couple of weeks and i was trying to see what i/it could do. The out of focus dog was after i had it for an hour or so and i think i over edited it anyway, but i wanted to see if i was headed in the right direction with these

#1 is decent good focus, could have used a little more dof
#2 nothing really interesting in this shot
#3 could have made a really interesting picture had it been shot from a different angle, Scott Kelby says to shoot your shots from an angle that noone else sees them from
#4when shooting snow you may need to adjust your white balance to eliminate the grays and blues that appear in snow pics
#5as already mentioned very out of focus
#6 same as 3 but could be an interesting shot with some added background and some DOF
thanks for sharing and keep shooting :D
