Please, post something for what we can think of improvement. This here is just cropped a bit too much on sides, otherwise just frame it and put on the wall.

I like the tones and the light.

It's very nice. When I look at it big, the 2 flowers in the lower part of the frame seem to be bit of focus.

Sometimes it's just best to let things go...I didn't agree with Timor's assesment and left a somewhat snide retort. I wish now I had not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion whehter the OP agrees or not. Sorry for the negative response.

I really think - kidding apart - that the monochrome version is far superior than the other one.
Curiously you have "erased" - or made it subtle - the difference between the shadow and the sunny areas. You have cloned - whatever - the background making it darker what makes the cactus pop.
And look at those whites ! How pure they are. Good work Chris, very well done."

Seems that someone thinks differently than you and I hold his work and opinion in high esteem. I don't revise images to please you or anyone else and that would include Antonio. I do it for me to learn and become a better photographer and editor. I disagree with your assessment. The image is the same crop as the last color version to which you made no comment and for eyeline viewing, I mirror reversed the image. A slight toning serves to further enhance the tonal separations. What is it you don't like? The tighter cropping just helps to guide the eye, losing all the extraneous, repetitive information in the shot. There has been a great effort put forth to make a single image as good as absolutely possible; perhaps not to your liking, but your liking doens't affect my decisions unless there is something constructive and I didn't feel yours was much more than a pithy remark.

I added Antonio's remarks because he did a critique. It is something we all could stand improvement upon.

Well, I think if one is making a decorative print, one is not cutting off any of that decorations, more, is leaving sufficient space between motif and the frame of the picture.
Sorry for not commenting on color version, I am sure is great. I am visiting color section of the gallery only when in b&w nothing is going on. And that is seldom.

Chalk it up to male menopause...it's not worth more than that. Timor has been gracious, me repentent...it need go no further. Both print stunningly and will go on the wall in my studio.

If you already got positive critique on this image elsewhere, from someone you respect and admire, what was the point of posting here?
I could see wanting a different perspective perhaps, but then you disagree with the comments ...

The composition is too crowded and you missed focus to some degree as mentioned. Focus stacking might be the only option given the subject matter though. Conversion is fine. On the fence with respect to the rim of the container. I realize that the edge is curved, but the crop and/or the leaves on the bottom right makes the curve seem more like a slant to the right that combines with the orientation of the plants to give a tilted feel to the photo. I might have burned it some to decrease the effect or rotated the image to the left. Not a bad shot. The cropping kills it for me more than anything else though.

I post of several different forums. I am quite sure a lot of folks on here do. I do like opposing critiques and learn from each. That I disagreed with his assessment and now yours doesn't make me a bad person, it just means I disagree. The cropping, composition and all the other elements in this shot work for me in some manner they don't work for you. Okay. What I dislike about this forum the most is the way the editor compresses the jpeg. It views quite differently on other forums. It's really not that big a deal. It prints beautifully and will be a decent seller. Be well.
