Soon-To-Be-Mommy gallery

Hey all!

So I just found out that a friend of mine is going to be a new mommy. I want to create a gallery of her progress for the next 9 months.

I have no idea where to begin. I'm used to taking nature and weird quirky shots; not portraits.

Composition, lighting, backgrounds, B/W vs. Color, any piece of advice is greatly appreciated.

Theres a book you can buy that gives you posing and how to light....then the rest is up to you. The best thing to do is look up maternity pictures and print out a bunch of styles you like. Also, try to keep it cohesive. In the end a really nice gift would be a photobook!

Well, I personally don't care for the uptight pregnancy portraits. Stick with what you like the quirky off beat pictures and you will be far happier in my opinion. I took pictures all over the playground, in the pool, whatever I would usually do just with a bigger stomach. But if you do want some of the portrait type, B/W looks nice with minimal background/lighting.
