I was out shooting photos at a local plantation garden this afternoon when up popped this guy in one of the ponds. He seemed quite young, probably only about a meter and a half in length. I managed to get a couple of shots, but then got too close and scared him off.

With these creatures I feel better when you can say YOU scared HIM off than the other way round. Safer for you.
So he is out there in the wild and you were not prepared for seeing him in those waters?
