If the total dynamic range of a scene can be captured with 1 or 2 exposures, making an HDR is pretty much useless.
HDR is used for scenes where there are very bright and very dark areas.
As an example, you had a scene where the sky is very bright and the foreground is in deep shadow. It's a good candidate for an HDR because it has a lot of dynamic range. ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
You had another shot, the first one (that is now gone), that had very few shadows and what shadows there were, were very small. That image had little dynamic range and was not a scene that could benefit from HDR processing.
