Found this little dude on a walk through the woods. The thread that cuts the frame in half is the anchor line for the web. The left side of the shot is toward the web, the right side toward a tree. It was reinforcing the anchor line, going back and forth laying down extra silk.

I used to have a pretty bad phobia of them. I got over it with some serious effort. Now I have a bit of a fascination with them.

Depending on the spider I can maintain my fear.. However my first reaction when seeing a threatening spider is to backtrack as fast as possible then slowly approach again..

One would say I am afraid of spiders ;)..... Which isn't good for traveling the world and doing landscape photography in the wild.. I will get over it, hopefully!

I got over it from rock climbing. I could fall or deal with it, and I didn't like falling all that much, so I got over my fear by proxy in another activity.
