I decided to have a bit of fun today. It is a bit chilly here in Oklahoma these days so most of my images are being taken indoors. This is good because it is forcing me to practice with my lighting that I would most likely not do if I was not forced indoors.

Here are a few of the better images I managed to get throughout the experiment:

Well for this one I was mostly concerned with my lighting so I let the camera do the work for me. I shot in P and just focused on where my light was coming from, how it was reacting to the subject, reflections....blah blah blah.

here are the setting on one of the shot:
P mode
f5.6
iso 100
focal length: 105mm
1/60 shutter speed
All manual focus (the auto focus DOES NOT like trying to focus on the water in the bowl )

Here is what the setup looked like:

Nikon D7000
SB-600 behind the chair
remote shutter release
bedside lamp at lower left (added this after a few shots and noticed I was pretty dark in that corner.)

Um did you know that Christmas is over. Lol.

Ya, we actually did not get the tree till after Christmas. It got set up just to see how it looks and never made it back down. Guess I should handle that one day soon before the wife gets upset!

The wife informed me that the tree is on my to-do list for tomorrow!

LMAO! :lmao: Spoke to soon

I am right there with ya. Such a pain to set everything up to then turn around a couple of weeks later and take it all back down. Seems to me that we should start a new trend, year round Christmas lights! Who's with me!?! :lmao:

Very cool idea and great shots. Number three looks like some strangely shaped icicle formed around that ball. I like.

I would get the camera down

lower...

I actually tried from a lower angle. I was not impressed with the images I was getting. Could have just been my angle, but I seemed to loose some of the interesting things the water was doing.
