Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
These are some shots i took last year . I really enjoy taking sports photography but after researching on how to improve my new found hobby i realized " i don't know what the hell I'm doing " i thought all my shots look like money shots, but after looking at others work, i see i have a lot to learn . some c&c as yall call it would be appreciated . Thanks*1. IMG_5569 by nola josh, on Flickr2. IMG_5542 by nola josh, on Flickr3. IMG_5571 by nola josh, on Flickr4. IMG_5960 by nola josh, on Flickr

I love #2... But *I* would crop out the top horizontal bar of the fence. Just my OCD. (also, his toe got chopped :( )

good idea on the crop,,, and about the toe, i made that same mistake to some of my " would be" favorite shots ,live and learn, for example*this one IMG_5579 by nola josh, on Flickr

nice work. i love the expression on the face in number 3. number 4 is a little too dreary for me. but thats just me. Keep it up!

The shots are great, but I am guessing that your monitor isn't well calibrated? They are incredibly dark on the color ones. The black and white is grayscale and REALLY soft.

nice work! I've been getting into sports photography lately, and watching your framing is by far one of the hardest/most critiqued things IMO....Theres always that great shot that gets a hand or foot chopped off  But great shots!

#3 is about the best but i would shoot it in landscape, with the player to the left giving the ball somewhere to go

I really like IMG_5571 (the 3rd picture showing the player preparing to throw the ball). I, personally, like black and whites when not overused, and your use was spot on. I agree about the removing of the bar at the top. The toe would have been nice to keep but not a deal breaker as you are looking more at the subjects face. Not a huge fan of the last picture, but it is a good memory shot. Just my humble opinion, mind you. I too am into sports photography and have a LOT to learn in my own right. Be proud of your pictures. Your doing great!! :)

it could be the the monitor ,or poor PP on my part. Any advice on PP or monitor calibration? *monitor calibration is totally new to me*

i agree , if i remember correctly it was shot just as you *suggested *,but for what ever reason i cropped it this way ,, ill try and find the original ... thanks *

Spyder3Express is under $100 and will calibrate your monitor rather well. If you are getting into serious work you may want to upgrade that to the pro version, but for most hobbbyists and casual professionals the Express version works great.

Monitors out of the box are generally set up for internet and gaming use. They are VERY bright and very high in contrast. They also tend to err to the side of the blue. You will find that when you have an image printed it doesn't look the same as your computer shows it. Your images will tend to be very dark and people will tend to be a bit orange looking in prints, but not on your computer.
