In a way it is, but you also have to remember, by todays standards there's not much too it but by 1977 standards it is amazing and changed Sci-fi movies forever.

Without a doubt. I hate when people try to read too much into a movie. Like it should be the philisophical cornerstone of thier universe. It's a MOVIE!! Enjoy it.
