Stone steps

Photos often tell stories. These steps are in Iceland and are centuries old. The story goes, that while the interior of the house has been remodeled several time, the steps were in need of serious repair.

The new owners decided they should be preserved rather than replace. Quite a juxtaposition against the sheet metal siding added in the 1940's to protect the original wooden walls.

True or not, they look like they will be around for quite while.

It's great that the owners are making sure they will be around. To me, their aesthetics are unrivaled by anything a modern contractor would probably give.
