Stop and smell the…..ferns?

My daughters and I have done a lot of smallish mountain hikes this fall. As everyone is rushing to get to the peak, we get behind looking at “ the details “. Ferns, fall leaves, fungi, insects, etc. Hikes that should take an hour are doubled by our curiosity. I was happy to find this fall scene. Constructive criticism welcome.

It's a nice shot! There are some nice contrasts between the leaf litter, the green ferns, and the grayish deadwood. It makes for a pleasant photo.

Beautiful image, I'm struck by the balance of everything in the pic. The logs really make it.
Don't listen to what anyone says, sometimes it pays to lag behind. Just ask any tortoise.

I wouldn't sniff too much. Ferns contain arsenic
