1 is my favorite of the three. I think the image would have been alot better if the camera was closer to the ground and there was more clouds in the pic and less grass. All the grass in the image kind of lessens the effect of the clouds. The 2nd may be a little better but the stick in the middle needs to be cloned out. Hope this helps.

Hi! I really like the first one. I am in Nashville and was out taking pics of the storm clouds this afternoon during the tornado sirens. I am sure yours are better b/c I just grabbed the camera and had the 50mm on there. :)

Yep the third one was from today as the sirens were going off - that was above Cool Springs.

I agree with the first one - I wish it had been closer and I learned from that shot. Actually I do have another composition where the sky is the subject and the ground only takes up the bottom third but the contrast didn't seem to be as great so I chose this one to post.

The stick is actually a fence post - I'll look into cloning it out.

I added 1.5 - a variation on 1 with the sky the focus with less ground.

I think they look good, have you ever played w/ HDR ? I think storm cloud photos benefit greatly from it. If you have a mac there is a tiny very affective app called HDRtist you can d/l

The clouds are certainly ominous, but they still lack a clear subject. The clouds themselves are quite tough to use as a subject, so try to use them as an accent rather than a subject.

I find them all dull compositions. You make better use of things in that landscape (e.g using trees, flowers closer-in as foreground) to create more interesting views.

Hey there. I like number 3 myself. I think you need to work on the rule of thirds a wee bit more. Do you have larger images that you could crop to re-compose the shot? Thanks for sharing and good luck with your photography.

Cheers

Jim
