Getting pounded here! Unplugged my electrical goodies and just using phone to post. Do you unplug your stuff during big storms with lightning and hail?!

I guess it's a good idea to unplug appliances during such terrible lightning storms. We don't get storms like that. However me using a laptop means when power goes out, I still have my laptop battery to keep my comp from shutting down suddenly, and the right to laugh at co-workers who are on desktops.

No...not really...even when we have to go down the basement because the tornado sirens were blaring. I don't have time to go around shutting off appliances nor pooters and we have quite a few here. Tornado warnings and reality are two different beasts....

Were in the middle of one now- in fact the county just had a tornado warning, which is strange because I thought you couldn't get tornadoes in the mountains??? :headscratch: but it never occurred to me to go around unplugging things. Though now that you mention it.....my hardwired fire detectors always go off in the rain...so weird, maybe that should have been the first clue to unplug the computer.....but what can I say? I like to live on the edge. ;-)

I meant only computers and routers and such. I don't unplug appliances, they don't keep me offline if they go down. LOL!

I don't, but 15 years ago lighting took out the submersible pump on my well. I did not notice it right away, but my TV in the spare bedroom got toasted also.

Oh yeah, lightning will do crazy things! Back when I had tons of expensive ham radio gear I got in the habit of unplugging the main gear, along with computers and related hardware.

I went to Like your post, and my laptop locked up! An omen, perhaps.

I use them also, but I don't think even those will help a direct hit. Of course, the house would probably be on fire, so me unplugging wouldn't help either!!

Another, stronger line of thunderstorms fixing to come through. They're about 25 miles west and moving east-southeast at 20mph. Gettin' ready cause thar she blows!!!!!!!!!
