The first shot of father and son... What lens and f/ were you shooting at? It looks like a photoshop blur was applied to the background, which is not only diffuse, but gaussianly blurred.

It is nikon af-s vr 70-300 mm lens. No I did not photoshop to make the background blur. When you zoom, the dop will have such effect.
