So I was playing around with my camera ( Nikon D5100) and I noticed something funky going on with the date. Ever since August 1st the dates in my camera are off. I'll try to explain as best I can. In the timezone setting its on the right timezone which is New York/Toronto (I think) which means its 8/7/2011 1:23am. But in the timezone setting it says it is 7/8/2011 (didn't look at the time)! If I move the timezone over to Denver it says its 6/8/2011!! Even if you set the correct date (my date is corrrect) the timezone overrides it! So....looking back at my pictures - today the pictures say they were taken on 7/8/2011, yesterday the date is 6/8/2011 and so on with only the month changing. Can anyone help me figure this out?? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Must be the date display format.
In US, people usually use mo/day/year, other country may use day/mo/year.

Read the manual and see where to set that.

It was already (and still is) set to month/day/year and the dates are all perfect until August. I just don't understand how the camera would still show that it was in m/d/y format but then have all the dates wrong. Its not the end of the world of anything - I just thought it was weird! Thanks for your advice though!

Dao is correct, your camera is set to the french (and wherever else) date format: day/month/year.

And so, it is giving you the correct date. How/why it changed is anybody's guess since we have not been watching you... Don't know if it happens with cameras but I've seen strange things like that happen with other gadgets when the batteries are getting weak.
