It's sad you did catch the top of the door too.

All I had was an 85 prime on me when we passed this door I was backed all the way against cars could not go any further unfortunately....The side walk is slanted but your right the image is crooked seems to be an ongoing trend of mine. I am thinking I should of got ride of the sidewalk all together.

If you shot vertically, you would have captured the top of the door, and kept the same scale of the child in the image, and magnified it's smallness. I don't think the "extra stuff" on each side of the image add anything to the story here.

A great tip that was given to me a long time ago, is to shoot everything both horizontal, and vertical, so you have options later. Often we can't go back for a redo, and doing this gives you something to work with.

Just remember that when there is a person in the photograph to try portrait orientation first and if that doesn't work THEN try landscape orientation. There's a reason they are called Portrait and Landscape orientation.
