Suggestions for Paintings to Brighten Up My Living Room

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for ideas on choosing the right paintings for my living room and could really use some advice.

The space is medium-sized with neutral walls, and I want to bring in more warmth and personality.

Should I go with a single large statement piece or create a gallery wall with smaller artworks?

I’m torn between abstract, nature-inspired, or cityscape themes. Also, are canvas prints a good option compared to original paintings?

Would love to hear what worked for you and any recommendations for styles, colors, or placement.

I think a single painting, if large enough, could become the main focus. I would prefer multilple artworks (paintings or photographs) of differing sizes. Maybe pick a theme.

Do you like any of your own photos enough to enlarge one or two? Or is your heart set on having a painting?

Either way, I agree with @snowbear that a grouping of smaller sized artworks has more visual appeal than one large piece. BUT - it's your choice and either approach would be fine.

Take some time looking around to see what appeals to you. Your local art fairs would be a great place to start. Have fun with it!

As an aside, I recently went to a festival (lobster) and was talking to one of the local artists with a display. Afterwards, I decided to get back to oil painting (I currently do acrylic and watercolor).
