I like this one - very nicely done. I like the reflections of the sunset of the buildings. This image conveys, to me, a certain calm serenity or peacefulness.

My only nit is that the horizon is right in the centre of the image.

but balanced by the sun and it's reflection on the buildings. Not to mention the leading line, color and mood. nothing here to pick on, excellent image. I am puzzled by your comment, WesternGuy, you seem to know stuff.

I guess that the first thing that caught my eye was the horizon right in the middle of the image. From my own compositional perspective, I tend to shy away from anything that cuts an image in half. I would have moved the bottom of the image up about an inch above that half rounded object, whatever it is. This would have given a bit more sky at the top of the lighthouse as well. The question that can't be answered is whether or not this different placement of the horizon would have affected the sun shining off the sides of the buildings. I agree that the sun is balanced by the reflections on the building, but I am not sure that this "balances" having the horizon in the centre of the image. You will note that I said this is just a nit, meaning that I don't think the image suffers very much because of the horizon placement, it is just meant as something for the OP to consider in other images. I believe very strongly that any C&C that I make can be ignored if the artist chooses to do so, as it is simply my opinion, right or wrong, good or bad. I have no expectations that any one person will necessarily agree with my comments as we all have different views of the world and what works for me may not necessarily work for others and vice versa. I assume that we, including me, are all here to learn and I learn something every day from images such as these and others. My quote from Thoreau sums up my own personal feelings about being a photographer and what I saw when I looked was a great image with, in my opinion, one small "nit" that I saw when I looked. That's all.
