As a photograph the composition is very nice. The yoga pose itself needs help.

I agree with above. I don't gather "yoga" when I see the positioning of her body.

Agreed. I think parkour instead. If you repost with a diffent title we probably won't give you a hard time. :blushing:

Is this a self portrait?

Thank you all :) This isn't a self portrait, this is of a friend (well, friend of a friend but we hope to shoot more soon!). From what I understand she's just started on her yoga journey and our (another friend was shooting, too) was to give her some pretty photos so she could see/work on her form.

I have a few ideas floating around, so I hope to play around some more with this.

On a different note, we learned that we're both hoping to move to the same area, states away - how cool would that be?!

Actually, it's not that the pose doesn't work, it's that for silhouette shots (and that's basically what this is), it emphasizes form (specifically line). Which means...no boots, no baggie T-shirt or hoodie. You want a model who's nude or wearing a danskin or formfitting clothing (for instance, if it's a bra, you don't want a little bow sticking out). Take this exact same pose but put the model in formfitting clothing you it would be a significantly better result.

Also, regarding the dangling hair...if you're going for smooth, flowing curves and lines then put the hair up in a bun. If you're going to let it hang then don't focus on the overall form but zoom in to the face.

Last, think setting. You've got what appears to be a mountain top with a sunrise/set. So go for a pose that whispers "tranquil" or "at peace, relaxed." A pose this dynamic I'd be more likely to try in a different setting b/c you've got a pose that screams "Energy! Dynamic!" in a setting that whispers "relax....quiet beauty."

Show us the next set of results you get on this concept. B/c quite frankly, I'm a sucker for yoga shoots when well done.

There is another way to see one's own form, namely a mirror, but she needs to have a teacher who will make corrections as she does the poses. Also, only the experts can go out on a rocky place and strike a good pose.
