Sunrise

Hi everyone, this is my first time shooting sunrises with the new camera. I was just hoping for some feedback on what you think of the photos, good/bad, etc. And what I could have done different/better for next time?

really good. The horizon in the last photo gives the sunrise some balance, scope....

Not sure if it's my computer at work but i find the sky a bit out of focus. Never the less great shots. The 3rd is my favorite.

I like the color and the contrasts in the clouds. These are the kinds of shots I'd keep in a Backgrounds/Sky folder for possible later use as a replacement sky in a composite.

As stand alone shots, I don't personally find them very compelling without a foreground element to anchor them, to tell me a story that grabs my interest, or that I might identify with on some personal level. A human element or even an interesting object used in that capacity would elevate these significantly.

On the last shot, the horizon is slightly tilted.

I agree, however, there was nothing in the foreground. These were shot off a 4th floor hotel balcony. I couldn't even see sand...

I see water in the foreground, using a graduated neutral density filter and getting down to ground level would have potentially produced a much better photo.

Thanks for that. As comfortable as I was on the balcony, I would have been better off using my legs. I will look into a GND filter for next time!
