I really like them. There is way too much heavy black though. The color is beautiful.
Subject in the foreground in #1 has a spear of some sort growing out of his or her head.
Subject in foreground in #2 half exists. If they're supposed to be there then we need some definition around them. If they're not then they're just a great distraction.

Gazebo is very nice. Wish you were at a lower perspective to blend all of the stuff in that is distracting beyond it.
Last one is the best. No distractions. Still wayyyy too black

that "spear" is a pylon from the dock that my sister (the silhouette) was sitting on. i adjusted the black level to make the dock easier to see so that you'd know that the pylon is part of the dock



same for #2, adjusted the black level to make the dock an my sister's left arm easier to see.

Is your monitor calibrated? I have a feeling you are seeing a lot more definition between the subject and a lot less black than I am.

i'm using my iPhone 4S, with the retina display i can see every detail. i'm using my 4S for everything, i'm still working on getting money for a DSLR

yeah, you are seeing things brighter than they really are. Having a DSLR has nothing to do with calibrated screen. Your photos will look good on your screen, but won't print right if your screen is not calibrated for photos. What we see is very different than what you see.

darn, is there any way to calibrate my phone's display for photos? and is there really a huge difference?

Have the image printed at a quality lab and see how much difference there is. Turning down the brightness will make a huge difference in what you see in the images.

alright, i turned the display brightness down to just below what i would call 25% of the maximum brightness, and the color was really the only aspect of the photos that suffered. i was still able to see the contrast between the silhouette and the dock.
