Grab yourself an ND100000 16.6 stop neutral density filter, slap it on your longest lens, set your shutter speed to 1/1000th, f8, ISO 100....fire off a burst of 4 or 5 shots, handheld....pick the sharpest one!

I usually keep an eye on the sunspots on NASAs SOHO website.....when an interesting shape or large amount of sunspots are visible, I like to go snap a pic!

Note: my SOOC photo is of a white sun, like SOHO's, but I like to adjust the color temp slider so I get an orange sun....why?....because I can and I like it orange! ☀️🌞

From the SOHO website ...not the size references in the corners...🤯

The summer has been pretty good so far, much wetter than previous years, not as hot as usual...our reservoirs, that have been 8-9 feet low causing water restrictions, are refilling towards normal levels, which is awesome....currently, as I type, we're having a huge deluge....⛈️⚡☔🌪️

Impressive! I was surprised in post edit when sun spots showed up in some sun shots taken through the thick smoke from the California wildfires. (I'm in southern WV). Panasonic FZ80, 20-1200mm, hand held.

That is EXACTLY how I first got interested in sunspots ...I was in south Dakota taking a sunset picture during the haze of some Canadian fires, and there were several spots on the sun.....so I googled "today's sunspots", and the rest is history!
