Suppose this can go here... logo design

I have no problem with the the first, but like Derrel said, it might look better with the "Crooked" at a higher angle. The monogram does not work for me. Perhaps if the CR were above the V?

I know that a "run" is the same as a creek or stream, so the "crooked" is natural. For once I'm not confused!

Monograms often have interlocked letters. Might be work giving that a consideration, if you decided to scrap it. Consider tucking the CR inside the V, possibly with the R cocked.

Just throwing stuff out there!

These are pretty good! I do have a small suggestion; make the word "crooked" the one that is crooked, and the word "vineyard" ruler-straight.

You might also play around with the values and tones some. Try making the word "run" less of the standout by toning it down some while making the other words brighter. Just see what they look like. Or diddle around with the background color, whatever.

Make up several versions then ask a third party.

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?! Great idea, thank you. I got so stuck on the traditional "format" of a monogram that that idea never occurred.

Yep. This was the place for the thread.

Is this the vineyard? Crooked Run Cellars in Mt Jackson, VA

Does she have any training in graphic design?

To often, people choose a logo based on what they like, instead of choosing based on what is most effective for a logo design.

It's been said that Fed-Ex looked at something like 230 logo designs before choosing what they use.

Yes, this is what I have been thinking about. I want to be able to help her sell her brand, not just pick something she thinks is "pretty." She is trying to stay away from the cliche, swirly, grapes with vineyard name type logo, but I am going to try something a little more classic with the first and see if she likes it. I did read something in my color scheme research about food companies using red, yellow and black most commonly. But hunger and thirst (or desire for fine wine) are different things. Something I'll have to consider.

Thank you! The graphic designer here at work has offered to give me some feedback.

Keith- no, similar name, and I'm kind of wondering if she knows about that one. There are so many in the area it's hard to keep track. I also feel like it may be insulting to ask if she knows that...

I think you're on to something with the first logo. Having lived in Napa for several years, I've seen every label design possible. I would definitely work off the crooked theme. I imagine a different color background that the winery name sits on, maybe a lightly patterned one. I'd also think about about what demographic they are targeting. I would browse the wine section of Whole Foods if you have one near as they tend to sell trendy and current wines. Good luck.

OK, so here's a rework of the first. I think another friend has come up with a monogram, and I'm thankful I don't have to stress over that anymore :)

Changed just about everything except for the idea, working off of the constructive advice I received from you guys. How's this one look?

Ahhhh and in fixing the one error, I now have a margin error. This is exhausting (but fun!) lol.
