Surprise visitor

While framing up a shot, finger not on shutter, a fish jumped up into the dam fall. I was mad. So I framed up another, set up what I thought was a pretty decent dof to catch him. After sitting with finger half pressed on shuttter for abotu 15 minutes....another one jumped and I caught it. Only he didn't jump in my focus area. Figures. Makes me wish I had a good tripod and a remote shutter...I would have sat there all day. But it's still kinda neat to have a fishy jumping in my shot...even though he's not greatly in focus and he was wigglin like crazy.

Oh how I feel your pain. That happens to me every time I try to get a shot of lightning. I'll sit there doing longer exposures and nothing happens. As soon as the exposure is over, only THEN does the lightning strike. I guess that's another lesson for all of us amateur/hobbyist photographers. Patience grass-hopper and lots of shots rewards us in the end. Or so we hope.
