So me and my old man took his motorcycle out to a local Elementary School today to try and get some shots. It was my first real try with the camera, and realized I have A LOT to learn. Pictures that I thought came out good on the LCD Screen, proved to be blurry, washed out, wrong focus ..etc

While it was the middle of the day, I tried HDRing some of the pictures anyways, and I think they came out relatively well. I'd like to go back there in the evening though to take some nicer shots.

This is one is my personal favorite:

Any tips, tricks, advice, comments, critiques are very welcomed! Again, I know HDR in daylight is frowned upon, but, just like experimenting with the concept since I am new at the whole thing.

Nice. FYI I've found my polarizor helps with the mad blown out glare such as on the blue..

Won't help with the chrome glare though, and may not help on the blue if the paint is slam full of metal-flake by chance.

If the bike is your subject unless you are getting up close to show details I dont think you should have cut off parts of it like the front wheel in your first and last shot. Your processing is not right and this is indicated by the sky. If your sky looks good then usually the rest of things are good too.

Bynx, are you referring to the 3rd picture in regards to the sky? If so, yes, I completely know what you are talking about. That was actually the first HDR out of the set I made, and I didn't understand why my sky turned black. (I then realized after I processed that one that it was the "Smoother Highlights" that I completely messed up on)

But what about the other pictures? The first picture, the front tire is actually all there if I remove the border, the last picture though I did not get it right - I tried fitting the whole bike, but the original picture the mirror and part of the front tire are missing. It was a mess up with looking through the Viewfinder.

Hopefully I have better luck next time out. =P

The second one isn't bad, but it could use some work.

I'm not a big fan of 1, 3, or 4. But you're on the right track. You might consider Artizen HDR software. I found it really helps me with getting the processing right

#2 doesnt show enough of the sky to say its off. But the rest of the pics have too much magenta which drops off around the trees making it look like a halo. If you add a border it shouldnt cut into the picture if possible. Make the frame fit the picture and not the other way around. Nobody has said it but I think that is one sweet ride. I always watch American Chopper and Id prefer the shape of your bike to anything they have built so far.
