imo, it would be better if you didn't shoot it from above because of its natural position...maybe to try next time to shoot it slightly from bellow... sorry, can't really explain this nicely because I can't find proper English words

Interested in this darkness issue. Roses are so bland. Adding all that contrast seems to help define the leaves. Looking for a better way.. any suggestions.

Not sure if this was intended for me or not but I'll address it. I understand what you are saying, I do see the contrast as being a good thing to help it pop. But in #2, I just see the whole photo as being dark (think underexposed).

Example: I brought the exposure up and the saturation down just a little. (If you want me to delete it, I will.) It's not the best edit but I don't have LR or PSE at work.
