Overall exposure is fine as is the depth of field.
Is this a snapshot of a member of your family?
As a 'portrait' though, it does not work. Lighting is very harsh, background is really cluttered and distracting, the pose is unflattering, the subject is squinting.
It is very difficult to self critique images of people we are fond of because we tend to only see the person and not the image. Ask any mother to critique pictures of her kids and her response will more than likely be "Oh, how cute is that?"
You edited your original post and added a surreal image. Looks like a giant flooding the neighborhood. Best get godzilla, or some such, on the scene to help out with this little monster.
