I’m taking top down pictures with this Camera Tube Pro - Stainless Steel — Building An Obsession maybe that’s causing the shadows?

you can make one of your own.... for very littler...

however you should get a decent lens hood, put the hood up against the face of the tank and take a few shots.. youll be surprised at what you get. as joel sartore showed how to make a really cheap water proof enclosure for filming inside a swimming pool by putting a camera inside a small rectangular fish tank, and putting the hood up against the inside surface.

Youd get an improvement as your photos currently look as if the camera is focusing on a 2 inch circle that moves from photo to photo
