Not a good conversion. Too many grey tones and lots of detail lost in the conversion.
I suggest that the tonal issues be adjusted first and the image sharpened before the conversion to BW

I agree - I'd like to see it lightened up at the street level and the contrast bumped a bit.

(Taksim is the neighborhood. That street looks like the main drag, named Istiklal Caddesi.)
