Tamron 150-600 G2 TC?

Hey all. Is the 1.4x teleconverter for this lens worth the money and how much do i lose in terms of sharpness and overall quality? If i'm shooting a hawk out at 50 yards up in the sky and trying to fill the frame with my lens out at 600 (on a crop body canon) will it look the same in the image if i crop to 960 equivalent on the computer over 960 with the TC on? I know it would be 600x1.6 and then multiply that by 1.4, but im just trying to keep it simple. My images come out "in focus" but without much detail, even turning the sharpness up in post. I shoot a lot of BIF or birds at distance and the 600 sometimes doesn't cut it.

What aperture you using? If you're using a tc you'll probably need to use f10 to bring back some sharpness. I know on the g1 f/8 is the sweet spot. I think I read you will loose significant sharpness with a tc for that lens. It's a trade for getting more reach.

I shoot f8-f11 usually. Depends on what and where im shooting.
