Tamron 150-600mm G1 Liveview issues

So.....first time I've run into an issue with a 3rd party lens. My 5DmkIV is now refusing to live view with my Tamron 150-600mm attached. It'll flip into live view for a second, then the mirror flips back down and it exits. It was fine before and functions normally otherwise but it's a bit irritating as I was wanting to try some astrophotography.

From a quick google it appears that a firmware upgrade might solve the issue, but I need to send it to Tamron, ideally with the receipt (for warranty)

My 80D does not like live view with my Tamron 150-600mm G1. It'll actually disable the camera. I need to remove the battery. Have to be careful not to bump it by accident.

Thought something was wrong with the camera but, live view works fine with any of the other lenses I have. Including the Tamron 90mm.

Sounds like this might be a relatively common/ known issue, going by RowdyRay's similar 80D experience.
