Tamron lenses and the Canon bodies, incompatibilities

Interesting news on Canon Rumors about some announced incompatibilities with Canon bodies and Tamron lenses. Apparently, Tamron was using some lens IDs that are no longer supported and the result is that the outer crosstype AF points don't work. Some Canon lenses seem to be affected as well.

Thankfully my beloved Tamron 28-75 works just fine on an XSI, 7D and 5D2

Any news on if Tamron is rechipping those lenses? Some of them I know (eg the macro) are more recent releases so it would be surprising if they didn't release a fix for those lenses .

I thought Tamron and Tokina paid for technology access from Canon and Nikon. And that Sigma was the only one who reverse engineered their electronics. To me this sounds like Tamron is also reverse engineering their electronics.
