Tamron lenses??

Hey people getting my d5100 tomorrow but on a budget but need to get a zoom lense could you please tell me if this is any good as it is half price! to good to be true? you tell me

Also I have been told I need vibration reduction.. I am a newb and unsure any help recommendations would be great

what about these?

Hey I AM OFF TO China to see terracotta army and the great wall do you reckon these will be good enough for that.. Thanks for taking the time to reply

I have the d5100 and had checked every worthwhile review and and lens comparision I could find..I suggest that is the best place to see the features, and preformance of these lens. Sure, outdoors in daylight, they'll be plenty fine. Though in that sort of situation I might prefer the 18-105, so I don't have to change lenses. As is, you'll have to switch lenses most likely, as 70mm on a crop frame will be a bit tight for some shots.

I find that wider is better when traveling through inhabited areas.

There is always more to capture than you can get in a telephoto.

Is this the only lens you will have or, will you have a 18-55 kit lens as well?

The second lens you listed will not AF with the D5100. The first lens isn't too bad for the price. I used to have one, but make sure it has the built in focus motor, otherwise it won't autofocus either on the D5100... These are from almost 2 years ago, I sold the lens a long time ago... Tamron 70-300 Di Ld with a D5000...
