Technical Question from a Beginner

Take photos like what? There's a backlit flower. :) Just start read up on how to use your camera (Manual!) and learn to compose and expose (shutter speed, aperture and ISO). I don't know if you can manually set those things with your camera, though.

Ether way, read your manual ;)

It you are not in Manual, then your cameras spot metering option metering off of the flower can help you get there.

I suggest just as Compaq said, read the manual and learn the differences betweein metering modes, and the other exposure functions on your camera.

Good luck and let us see some of your test shots!

hey , thank you for everyone's reply

I am starting to understand what those setting for the camera are, but I am not quite sure when to adjust them.

is there any web site that you guys can recommend me for self learn on how to control the shutter speed, aperture and ISO ?

Your manual... Most reliable source on how to control your camera.

Did you know, TPF, and the Internet are searchable. Wow! God bless modern technology.

I post the following link at least 20 times a week here at TPF: Digital Photography Tutorials

Oh and be sure you read your Sony user's manual, so you won't have to just guess at what all those buttons do.

Truth be told, I wouldn't be proud of myself to try to emulate an mostly out-of-focus, shallow depth of field and overexposed/mostly blown-out image.

I have read through a lot of contents and tutorials about basic photoshop techniques ,
but here i am not so sure about what is the difference between exposure and brightness

Can any experts here explain to me in simple english, whats exposure and brightness please?

Thank you very much;)

Get the book Understanding Exposure by Peterson, it will be the best money spent as a beginner.

It's easy to take **** shots like those
