That's confusing to me because all the other images I've seen of this damn lens hasn't had the XR on them either, but the title describing the product always does. :scratch:

That narrows it down to about 2/3 of the worlds lens makers.

As a Promaster dealer, yes it is a Tamron lens made for Promaster. The XR is just a designation of a series of lenses for digital that Promaster used on that lens. It is a great lens and has a lifetimme warranty.

Your frickin' lens is a damn auto-focus wide angle lens designed for digital Canon bodies with a frickin' aperture range of 4.5-5.6 and a thread mount diameter of flipping 77mm. Your damn lens is not a XR lens simply because it doesn't have freakin' XR written on the lens anywhere... You may not put a mother humpin' Canon lens on a Nikon body or vise versa without a flipping adapter.

If you have any more dang questions, go ahead and ask them and I'll freakin' answer them.

Jeez.... if you're gonna swear, do it correctly!

"Damn" is a verb. "Damned", in this case, is an adjective. "Damn lens" is a conflict. "Damned lens" is the correct term.

And indicates the filter thread diameter of the lens.

Hey! I have a Tamron 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di II! I know it doesn't fit on a Nikon camera because its made with a Canon mount.

Can the ProMaster be manually focused? The focus ring on mine (purchased second-hand today) appears locked.

Oops! Figured it out! Had to turn the camera control from autofocus to manual. That unlocked the focus ring on the lens!
