I can see the distinction.
The second one quite clearly says 'test' while the first one is just 'test'.
But often that simplicity is what is needed, in some circumstances, to make the point - it eschews the modern urge to dress things up in needless frippery and makes an unequivocal statement. The second one, however, does have a sophisticated wit that hints at an inate complexity rich with meaningfull resonnances.
This is the reason I cannot choose between them. Both have equal charm.
Now if there had been a third option, perhaps the underutilised 'test', then I think the choice might have been easier.
