Testing out the New Fuji X-T10 with the 16-50mm

The images look decent, but a good photographer can get decent images with a pinhole box camera. What did you think of it as a photographer?

I think it's on par with most modern day crop sensor DSLR IQ wise,does a great job with SOOC jpegs. I haven't tried all the film simulation modes yet or converting raw files. The focus is Quick and accurate so it seems AF-Single but in continues tracking moving things it struggles and hunts so not something I would consider for action stuff which really is to bad because it rips off 8 FPS for roughly 11 shots of the largest Jpegs, not a big buffer obviously, but if the tracking was really good it could work out nice for short burst action shots.

The memory Card sits right next to the battery and some what a pita to get to,I could see someone with very large hands have a heck of time getting the card out without the need to remove the battery.I don't know about all the mirrorless cameras but why cant they put the slot separate from the battery compartment like on the side or at least a little more separation from the battery as it is it almost sits right up alone side the battery and makes it much easer to remove the battery first. Speaking of battery, it does not last very long especially if the LCD screen or the EVF is on but whats really nice is you can shut off the EVF and the LCD and have only the EVF come on when your ready to shoot and bring the eye up to the proximity sensor then off when you move your eye away,thats a battery saver.


The camera is small but has a nice rubber texture grip but I added the additional way over priced Fuji grip that has a bigger lip on the front makes the camera a tad larger to hold on to but also moves the tripod mount in line with the lens axis,the body only tripod mount is off center and mounting the Arca swiss tripod quick release blocks the battery door duh.

I am still learning the camera but so far its pretty easy use the EVF is really nice seeing things in real time and the flip LCD is great.The camera is so much fun to use and its very well made. I got it with a two kit lens package 16-50mm F/3.5-5.6 OIS II and 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS both surprisingly sharp and as long as there is ample light the slow glass don't seem to be any problem, I absolutely love it,so much fun to shoot with I could carry this everywhere. I wanted the silver and black retro, but where I purchased it was only available In all black,,but it seems it would be much less conspicuous which is a good thing.

I checked the QVC website yesterday and the deal was still going. Oh, the temptation.... I could almost slap you for that

I still think the price is wrong but they are honoring it and they do the value pay on your own bank debit card thats why I jumped on the deal. Maybe they are over stock and there not selling but the price is $350.00 less then I have seen anywhere. I used the shopping network before with no problems at all but for other things and generally there camera stuff is over priced but no so with the fuji,its under priced from what I see.BTW sorry to give you temptation and by no means am I pushing a sale for them but if anyone wanted a mirrorless Fuji system I can't think of a better way to get one with out a one off payment at such a lower price.

The XP2 and XT2 have twin card slots on the side of the camera.

I've used the XT1 for action/sports. It didn't follow focus for 'easy' sequential stuff, but the AF was certainly fast enough for action. Not as easy (less keepers) as a DSLR, but certainly quite doable.

Thanks Gary,Certainly will give it a try again.I only tried briefly, but it was on a tiny chickadee head on and it almost nailed it. I really love it though such an amazing little camera that will come with me everywhere I go.

If this is your first mirrorless, I found mirrorless to focus differently than a DSLR. For me there was significant learning curve. Fuji has greatly improved the AF from first generation XP1 to the more recent XP2 & XT2. I don't know much about the XC lenses, but the FX lenses are simply outstanding. I suggest you try out some FX primes.

I think you mean to say XF lenses but yea they are highly regarded.

Yes, XF. At a minimum, these lenses match my Canon L lenses.

It seems to, over saturate the images a tad, what was your camera set to (ie does it have different saturation level settings?)

Yes Velvia does over saturate some colors for example the guys green jacket looks just how I remember it however the purples and reds get pushed to much kinda of reminds me of Pentax colors..I can adjust color,contrast pretty much the same as a DSLR or switch to other modes more suitable less saturation or just shoot raw.. I had to figure most stuff out on my own with some you tube tutorials which was far better then the manual fuji put together.
