The Internet isn't that old.
Try cutting through your modem cable and counting the rings. I believe that's how you date things.

(Er... to be scarified is to have little cuts made in your skin, usually for ritual or tribal reasons. I do hope our resident twelve year old isn't into that sort of thing.)

Modem, what kind of Stone Age implement is that?

Oh, great, bait him with the fact you're firmly in the digital age. Banned for opening up a can of worms

So in Sweden they don't use modems?
The thing you use for broadband is an ADSL modem. But I wouldn't know that, being a troglodyte.

The thing I use for broadband internet, is an ethernet cable from my computer to my router, then another ethernet cable down to the basement, where the switch server for our whole village happens to reside. From there on it's fiber all the way 8-)

But yes I do realise some unfortunate people still habe to make to with ADSL ;)

And exactly what modulates/demodulates the signal between the ethernet cable and the fibre-optic cable? Could it be.... a modem of some sort?

Still using ethernet cable to connect your computer?
How primitive.
My house has a wireless network.
So don't go looking down on others when your knickers are showing ;)

I'm 'old school'...the ethernet is what you use to catch the ether-bunny, and modem is what you do to weeds on the lawn. Right?

How generous of you to share your connection with the local community ;)
