Good situation for this camera's sensor/lens combination. Perhaps the second version is more 'correct' but I prefer the muted tonality of the first edit. IMO, 3:2 would suit the framing better than as shown here; a little too much sky for my tastes as it is presented here.

I do like the 4:3 format; sometimes I feel it might be the best format of all the conventional ratios. I'm very consumer/amateur(ish) with printing photos, so far. I do ~A4 at home and 7"x5" on the local supermarket Kodak machine. My goal with upsizing low megapixel/vintage digital images is 10"x8" for the 'archive'.

Digilux 1..the styling I feel is/was classic. Described somewhere online as 'pig ugly'; beauty in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I would like the black Panasonic version. The Digilux 2 and 3 could have been offered in Black Chrome...Red Dot ommitted for a 'Wetzlar' top-plate inscription instead...OK, I'm dreaming now

Thanks, panblue. I also like the muted tones of the first, but am undecided as to which is the better of the two, if at all one is really better than the other. I will take another look at them both in the morning and print them; perhaps then a winner will emerge. I like the aspect ratio (4:3) well enough, but think a 3:2 crop is worth trying out (perhaps there is a little too much sky, as you say).

I picked the camera up a day or two ago on Ebay and am very impressed and happy with it so far.
