I like the first one for its perspective but the second for its detail. The DW has decided to take up photography, and is fascinated with getting a shot of the honey bees on the flowers off our deck. Good practice subject for focus and DOF, because the little buggers are never still.

Good idea, using the long lens + TC unit from farther back. I've done that before using the Kenko 13mm AF or 20mm AF extension tubes, and also with the Nikkor 300/4 AF-S + TC 14e-II or with the Kenko tubes...
