The beginning of a murmuration (and a blue jay)

So murmuration was my new word for the day. I was pretty groggy this morning and my first thought was a "gaggle of grackles" of course I was quickly corrected that they are starlings... duh, I knew that. Then I found out that flocks like this are called murmurations.... I shot it with a slow shutter speed to see if I could get a cool effect.. what do you think?

Nice shots. I think the speed blur on the wings is perfect. Yeah...murmuration...I first encountered that word yesterday on grindtv.com, with this roughly 3 and a half minute video of apprx. 10,000 starlings in a murmuration in Scotland. Check out the video...very beautiful...I posted this to my Facebook page last night.
